The Eastern mole is a native of Canada (Ontario), the United States and northwestern Mexico, and has the most extensive range of all the North American moles. The remaining suitable habitat is primarily located in and around Tecopa Hot Springs, California, some of which is on unprotected private lands. Naked mole rats live exclusively in dry, arid desert habitats.

They live in areas which have abundant of soil so that they can dig their burrows and tunnels. The coast mole has a disjunct distribution, occurring from the western end of British Columbia, Canada through the western regions of Oregon and Washington, and in some parts of Northern California (coastal regions). Habitat of the Naked Mole Rat. It has been known to catch and detect the prey with a speed faster than the working and following of a human eye. The largest is the giant golden mole (Chrysospalax trevelyani) of South Africa, with a body 20 to 24 cm (7.9 to 9.4 inches) long; it is a forest dweller that dens in burrows but travels and forages along the surface.
