Mothra's first film appearance was in the 1961 film Mothra.Since then, she has appeared in every era of Godzilla films along with a Mechagodzilla, Rodan, and King Ghidorah. Battra is a giant black moth guardian and the dark counterpart of Mothra who appears as the main antagonist in the 1992 science fantasy Heisei Godzilla film Godzilla vs. Mothra. Battra was originally meant to be an evil twin of Mothra called "Gigamoth" whose abilities somewhat resemble Hedorah's in the scrapped film Godzilla vs. Gigamoth. Like Mothra, Battra has both larva and imago (adult) forms. Emi Ito may not be a household name but anyone who grew up watching the Godzilla movies on television remembers the two magical fairies who would sing those lovely lullabies to Mothra, the giant moth.
